Community garden and food securityOur community garden located at 882 Main St in Caribou is a collaboration with Caribou Parks and Recreation, Age Friendly Caribou, and a growing number of local community partners and supporters. This is an area where all can come participate in gardening activities with physical, social, cognitive and emotional benefits. Food grown in this space is donated to local food pantries and other organizations, and the garden aims to be a location for continued community events. Personal gardening plots are also available to reserve by contacting the Caribou Parks and Recreation Department.
Nurture by Nature, along with other organizations, businesses and individuals, is working to form Aroostook's first county-wide food council: the Aroostook Food Collaborative. This council will facilitate communication and collaboration around collective food security issues, awareness and action across Aroostook County. Wellness, Reflection & GrowthThrough offerings of various therapeutic horticulture inspired activities and events related to different areas of holistic wellness as well as art and expression, N x N brings opportunity for self-exploration to those in the community and surrounding areas through events both at the garden and throughout the state. |
